Breakthrough Under the Stars — a fundraiser featuring music, art and comedy — will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Country Day’s Edwards Plaza. The event benefits Breakthrough Sacramento.
“Our goal is to introduce Breakthrough to the community and to people who share the same passion as we do for educational opportunities for underserved students in Sacramento,” said Faith Galati, executive director of Breakthrough Sacramento.
Performing will be the Faculty Jazz Ensemble, junior Olivia Chilelli (live painting, accompanied by the Garage Band) and comedian Grant Lyon, ’02, the son of former middle school principal Sandy Lyon.
“His comedy is intellectual — he puts in a lot of facts and history into his jokes,” Galati said. “He’s been traveling the U.S. with his act, and he’s really fantastic.”
Tickets cost $20 at breakthroughsac.org or $25 at the door. Included are chili, cornbread and an alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink.
