On March 14, Student Council organized a bake-off. About 15 pies were entered, but only three impressed the judges enough to earn the first, second and third prizes. Sophomore Tori Van Vleck’s coconut cream pie won first place, juniors Nina Dym and Pria Nijhar’s pecan pie with cinnamon roll crust earned second, and freshman Jewel Turner’s Dutch apple placed third. Winners were awarded goodie bags, and Van Vleck was crowned with a chef’s hat at morning meeting.
In addition to winning prizes, all entries received extra credit in their science and math classes.
High schoolers bought tickets for $2 to taste some of the entries.
