Freshman Reggie Fan prepares to shoot a free throw after being fouled by a player on Sac Adventist.

Boys’ JV basketball wins with strong ball movement

The boys’ junior varsity team defeated Sacramento Adventist, 51-36, on Jan. 29.

This was the second game the JV team has played against Sac Adventist. On Jan. 12, Cavs defeated them, 48-40.

“It will be a tough game since we are playing (at their home court),” freshman Jake Longoria said before the game. “(However), I think we should play well. We are missing Miles and although he is a crucial part of our team, I believe our players will step up and fill his role.”

Sophomore Adam Dean was the top scorer with 14 points.

Freshman Bryce Longoria scored 12 points, and freshman Reggie Fan scored 11 points.

“We won because we made crucial stops down the stretch at the defensive end,” Dean said. “We had the best ball movement we’ve had all year.”

Jake agreed.

“We passed the ball really well,” Jake said. “We all moved the ball around and got open looks. Adam and Aidan did a really good job scoring around the basket. Bryce and Reggie were able to drive and score or force (Sac Adventist players) to foul. This led two of their players to foul out.”

The boys’ next game will be Tuesday, Feb. 3, against Valley Christian, at 4:30 p.m.
