Freshman Evann Rudek scores the only goal in a game that her team, Carmichael Soccer, won 1-0. The opposing team had been undefeated for three years up until that game.

Freshman returns after spending a quarter at St. Francis

Freshman Evann Rudek has returned to SCDS after a quarter at St. Francis High School.

Q: Why did you leave Country Day?

A:  My family thought that it would be better if I left.

Q: Did you like St. Francis?

A: No. The teachers weren’t as good as the teachers here. I didn’t like the classes either. I guess it was good not having to pick out what to wear in the morning.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?

A: Soccer, singing and piano. I play for a club in Carmichael called Carmichael Soccer. I auditioned for “American Idol” six months ago and “The X Factor (USA)” a year ago.

Q: You were on “American Idol” and “The X Factor”?

A: I passed the first round of “American Idol” auditions, but I wasn’t able to continue to the second round because my plane had to leave at the time of my audition. (I was in Florida on a trip and there was an audition and I tried out while I was there.) They let me through the first round, but the second round was supposed to take place after my plane had to leave. I didn’t get on to “The X Factor”.

Q: Any pets?

A: Yeah. Three dogs: Rocket, Cosmo, and Pip. A cat (named) Nelson. A gecko (named) Spike. I had three llamas but they died last year. Someone fed them oleander, which is a poisonous plant.

Q: What’s your favorite movie?

A: “Silver Linings Playbook.” I like Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

A: Italy or France because of the food.

Q: What’s your favorite song?

A: “I Know I’m Not the Only One” by Sam Smith. I like his style of music.
