Frosh Brenda Alegria loves warm Sacramento weather, friendly people

New freshman Brenda Alegría has just moved from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Sacramento.

Q: What are some of your hobbies?

A:  I like to write poetry, and I love to help people!

Q: Do you participate in community service?

A: I don’t, yet. I would love to do community service here, I’d really like to help out in any way that I can.

Q: What sport are you interested in?

A: Basketball.

Q: Do you play basketball? What is your favorite team?

A: I like and play basketball. I’ve watched the Miami Heat play.

Q: What did you do over the summer?

A: I went to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.

Q: How long was your trip? What did you do there?

A: My trip to Guadalajara was just a week to get some visa stuff done. Puerto Vallarta was a week too, just for vacation!

Q: What subjects are you most interested in?

A: English and physics.

Q: What is your first impression of Country Day?

A: I get to be outside, where it’s actually hot, unlike Indiana.

Q: Did you go to a private or public school in Indiana?

A: I went to two schools in Indianapolis. My first was Clay Middle School, a public school. I stopped going there after a year because it wasn’t a friendly environment. After that, I went to the International School of Indiana, a private school.

Q: Why did you move?

A: Because of my dad’s job. He works as the global business leader of Dow AgroSciences.

Q: How does Indianapolis compare to Sacramento?

A: I don’t think you can compare (them). The weather here is amazing! There are so many more places to visit around Sacramento than around Indianapolis. People here are nicer and more open. It was hard to find people like that in Indiana.

Q: Are there any places that you would like to visit in Sacramento?

A: They say that there’s some really good food and candy in Old Sacramento.

Q: Do you think you’ll ever move from Sacramento?

A: Hopefully, I’ll get to finish my high school years here, and after that I’m sure I’ll move somewhere for college, not sure where yet though. I might even stay if I really enjoy the weather!
